On the Island there is a well-established league structure which is supported by most clubs between January and October. It is formulated so that even the newest players, young and old, can enjoy the friendly competition.

For the keenest players there are many local and regional one day competitions, usually held on Sundays, throughout the year. All Isle of Wight Petanque League and EPA IW Region Licence holders can enter these competitions with the exception of the EPA Inter-Regional Qualifiers which are open to EPA IW members only.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR VECTIS LEAGUE TEAM CAPTAINS

The Simeon Arms PC have had to withdraw from the Summer League with effect from 3rd May, 2010. All games played to date and those listed in the fixture list will be considered as a bye and points won or lost will not be counted in the league competition.

It is hoped that the damage caused to the terrain (caused by a fire in an adjacent building), will be repaired by the commencement of the 2011 season.

WINTER LEAGUE FINAL WEEK REPORT:

In the final round of matches the shock of the day was the Barnstormers first lost of the season to the Plessey Hotshots, inspite of Morgan Ince, Keven Gifford and John Newton getting them off to a flier in the opening leg with a 13-0 win. However the Stormers still managed to retain top spot in what proved to be a very close League with the Newport Keepers and Bargemans Sails hot on their heels. Princess Royal also got off to a flier with Steve and Nathan Smart and Dave Sedgeley's 13-1 first leg win but just failed to win the match by 2 points. Horsheshoe Ringers finished their campaign with a maximum against the Chuckit & Chancers which moved the Ringers off the bottom for the first time. Mike Wood and Chris Gordine's 13-1 win gave the Keepers a comfortable win in their match with the Paraletics who failed to maintain their success in the first half of the season. In the final match of the night Emma Stockbridge and Dan Bartlett's 13-0 win gave the Bargemans Sails a comfortable win against the Ventnor Tonkers.
